Covering an area of 2,316 sq km and sharing borders with Zambia to the west, Kasungu National Park in central Malawi is the second largest after Nyika in the north and is home to the biggest variety of large game species of any of the other protected areas. Acknowledging the drastic population depressions over the past couple of decades mainly due to poaching, and determined to entrench the spirit of conservation in the surrounding communities, Lifupa Conservation Lodge, formerly Lifupa Game Lodge, working with international volunteers, has a wide-ranging programme centred on community ownership of the park’s resources and entrepreneurship built on sustainable eco-management. Visitors’ involvement in various schemes to augment these efforts is always welcome; they simultaneously qualify to choose to be an investor.
Located in the heart of this rich habitat, on the shores of Lifupa Dam—the largest water resource in the park—the idyllic Lifupa Conservation Lodge is the ideal base from which to feast your eyes on a diversity of animals from the observation deck or on the escorted game walks and drives; to let heart and soul fly away as far as the eye can see, taking in wondrous views from the swimming pool or from your verandah; to watch the sunset paint an indelible picture on your mind as you drive towards Black Rock. Their slogan “The most beautiful things in the world must be felt with the heart” puts it most aptly!
Kasungu National Park is also known among bird watchers as home to many rare species.
Price inclusive of transfers, sharing accommodation, lunch on day of arrival and day of departure, dinner and breakfast, game park entrance fees, 1 game drive, 1 game walk and 1 sunset drive to Black Rock.
